WOLFHEART is Jasse Hast! Besides being the brain behind WOLFHEART, Jasse is also the guitarist in the wellknown Finnish metal band, Charon. The reason why Jasse formed WOLFHEART was that he had an urge to play aggressive and melodic death metal again (Charon used to play that style) and wanted to start signing again, as he used to do in Charon. He then talked with Charon-drummer Antti Karihtala about the idea and WOLFHEART was a reality, or actually the band was called Auroral in the beginning.

Shortly after the formation the two guys entered the studio to record their first (and what turned out to be their last) demo tape entitled "Nightly Storms". The tape was sent to very few people outside Finland, but somehow it ended up at MIGHTY MUSICs headquarters. It didn't take many listenings for MIGHTY MUSIC before they called up mr. Hast and offered him a record deal. All this found place in the Spring of 1998. Shortly after the bandname was changed to WOLFHEART and the band began preparing themselves for the recording of their debut album.

Meanwhile Jasse packed his bag and tent and travelled to the Northern parts of Finland and Norway all by himself in order to study the giant forests and take photos of the clean and beautiful nature. This trip was a personal challenge for Jasse, but also a way to seek inspiration for WOLFHEART. What he brought back was the photos you can see in the booklet of the "Cold Breath" CD, plus a lot of inspiration for both music and lyrics to used in WOLFHEART.

In the Autumn the debut album of WOLFHEART was ready to be put on tape, so the band entered the studio and recorded what turned out to be the fantastic "Cold Breath" CD.

The album contains 9 songs of extremely melodic and aggressive death metal. The whole song structure has a technical and progressive edge and it is no secret that WOLFHEART has seeked inspiration from the earlier material of country fellows Sentenced ("Noth From Here" period). WOLFHEART is however a very individual sounding band and when listening to songs like "Nightburnt", "The Wilds" or "The Hand Of The Moon" you can almost feel the cold breath from the Northern parts of Finland.

With a debut album like "Cold Breath" it is frightening what the future will bring for WOLFHEART!

"Cold Breath" was released world wide through MIGHTY MUSIC on the 19th of April.
