Technical deathrash ... from Denmark

[ S A C R I F I C I A L ]

January 2000 sees the return of one of Denmark's oldest and most respected extreme metal acts, SACRIFICIAL.
The band was formed in August 1990 by brothers Kræn & Lukas Meier, guitar and drums respectively. They emerged from the, back then, very active part of southern Jutland; the Esbjerg/Ribe area which was home of for instance Invocator, Maceration, and Caustic as well as several metal publications (Laceration, Sacroformity, Vicious). SACRIFICIAL soon caused a lot of stir in the international metal underground with the debut demo, "Lords Of Torment", which did well among the demo-buying metal audience, and enthusiastic tape traders. It soon gained a record deal on a local record company.

In 1993 Sacrificial issued their debut album, "Forever Entangled". The album was produced by the band themselves and contained some harsh deathrash. Focus was put on both aggressiveness as well as technical skills. The album was well received, especially in Germany and of course Denmark. Sadly the record company didn't have the financial and promotional means to support the potential of Sacrificial properly and soon the label stopped and Sacrificial was all of a sudden without a record deal. One year after the release of "Forever Entangled" Sacrificial played at Europe's biggest rock festival, Roskilde Festival, and late in the same year they released the demo tape "Sadistic Slam". After this the vocalist, John Hansen, decided to move to Copenhagen and shortly after, despite having included a new singer, the band broke up.

Four years later Sacrificial reformed for just one re-union gig after a big request from the local audience. MIGHTY MUSIC was present at the concert. Impressed by the band's extremely professional and intense live performance, MIGHTY MUSIC asked the band for a recording. Sacrificial quickly recorded a promo tape and mailed it directly to the MIGHTY MUSIC HQ. One phone call and a meeting later, the record deal for two albums was signed. This time around the band decided to ask old time friend and supporter of Sacrificial, Jacob Hansen (Danish producer guru etc.) to help out with the recording. This turned out to be one of the most powerful and aggressive productions heard in a long time. The music of Sacrificial anno 2000 stays faithful to their roots of the late eighties thrash (Dark Angel, Forbidden, Exhorder etc.) and it also incorporates influences from modern death metal and technical thrash. The new sound of Sacrificial has already been compared to bands like The Haunted and new Testament.

Sacrificial has re-formed for good and will hit the roads for a Danish tour in the new millennium (gosh, we hate this word) and hopefully they will also get the chance to play in foreign countries if "erect:eloquent:extinct" gets the recognition it deserves! "erect:eloquent:extinct" was released world wide through MIGHTY MUSIC on the 24th of Janury 2000.

The new album "Autohate" will be released through Mighty Music in August 2002!!
