NEW DISCOLOUR NEW DISCOLOR is a progressive and hard hitting band that uncompromising challenge and explore the metal genre´s fundamental sound. NEW DISCOLOUR was formed in 2008 by Søren Thomsen (guitar) and Lasse Mikkelsen (drums). The band was later expanded with Mayu Tharumann (bass), Artem Kushnirenko (vocals) and Jesper Rasmussen (guitar). The bond and the relationship of the band members go way back. They have played in different constellations with each other before the formation of NEW DISCOLOUR. Starting point for the acquaintance was a shared passionate interest in music and the metal genre, which for many years has evolved into a close friendship between the boys. The strength in NEW DISCOLOUR lies within the members' personal and cultural differences, which together provides the framework for a versatile, creative and experimental community. A broad community where diversities and interests meet in a common vision of creating uncompromising and progressive metal with authentic lyrics that supports the gloomy soundscape. In 2009 NEW DISCOLOUR recorded their first EP, Silent Scream, in cooperation with Christian Bonde (Invisius, Dawn of Demise, The Cleansing). The EP generated a lot of attention and publicity in Denmark and the band was nominated for best metal artist at the Underground Music Awards. Despite this the band wouldn’t produce a debut album based on the EP material, because they didn’t think it defined their personal and experimental visions in optimal ways. Therefore began NEW DISCOLOUR a new and challenging writing process leading to the recording of their debut album Short Of Ink in 2010. With a well-defined expression and sound in mind the recordings of Short Of Ink started in collaboration with Christian Bonde and Morten Løjborg. The singer Artem had in interaction with rest of the band finished all lyrics before the recording sessions. The lyrical aspects are characterized by cultural diversity, and are a critical response to corruption, political suppression and bureaucracy devastating consequences based from a personal point-of-view. In the criticism there is also the hope and desire for charity and peace. Compared to the recording sessions of the drums, was here emphasis on variation in the rhythm section, an unusual and versatile sound with inspiration from genres like groove, funk and hip hop, without affecting or breaking the gloomy soundscape. The process was short, but both intense and hard. The music was produced in the moment where creativity in the first place wasn't bound by limitations. The band then went through uncompromised considerations. The result is a progressive, heavy and hard hitting acquaintance characterized by an epic soundscape, recognizable tones and a calculated attention to details. Through the whole album you will find a genre common thread that intensive will hold on to the listener and thus clarify the different depths of the album. Short of Ink is ready to be unleashed!
