J E R K S T O R E
Danish band, Jerkstores, second album, Hard Words
Softly Spoken, consists of 11 cuts of modern metal rock
with focus on the songwriting. The four members are inspired
by metal, rock & hardcore. They can be seen as the Danish
answer to the modern American metal scene even though they are
a bit more melodic than most American bands.
On Hard
Words Softly Spoken Jerkstore have picked few but very
effective means to get their point across. Most of the songs
are about three minutes in length and features catchy pop choruses
and asskickin riffs. The vocals vary from harmony parts,
screaming and yelling to regular rock singing while the guitars
and the bass produce a wall of sound complimented by the drums.
The opener
Five Lost Years is a prime example of the Jerkstore-formula.
While The Road To Shangri-La mixes hard pumpin
riffs with a haunting chorus and a middle eastern vibe. Dead
Eyeings exhibits Jerkstore in their doomiest and slowest
mode, It Can Only Get Worse is probably their most
pop orientated song and You Dont Know Better
shows the bands affection for the heavy scene of New Orleans.
The bands
debut album, Anti-Jukebox, received rave reviews
in magazines such as Terrorizer (GB) and RockHard (D). Jerkstore
was compared to a wide range of bands from Fu Manchu, Life Of
Agony, Kyuss, Eleven Pictures, Soundgarden, Helmet, Chum, Tool,
to Sevendust, Pantera, and Machine Head.
