GUIDANCE OF SIN was formed in 1994, as a side-project to A Canarous
Quintet, but quickly turned into a more serious band. 1997 saw
the release of the demo "Soul Disparity", which now
is considered a cult-tape! This tape was widely spread in the
international metal underground scene and resulted in offers
from several record labels. The band, however, decided to enter
the studio again to record the "Promo-CD '98". This
recording made MIGHTY MUSIC sign the band in late 1998.
In April
1999 the release of the GUIDANCE OF SIN's debut album "Soul
Seducer" saw the light of day on MIGHTY MUSIC. "Soul
Seducer" contained three new songs as well as both the
four songs from "Soul Disparity" demo and the two
songs from "Promo-CD '98", so the release was a sort
of a compilation album. Despite this fact, "Soul Seducer"
was received extremely well world wide and resulted in many
good reviews all over the world as well as good sales. Shortly
after the release of "Soul Seducer" Fredrik (drums)
decided to leave the band and instead join Amon Amarth. Fredrik
was quickly replaced by Tob Sillmann and L-E Limnell joined
the band as the first bass-player.
With a full
line-up GUIDANCE OF SIN started rehearsing intensely for the
recording of their first real album. This took place at The
Sunlight Studio in December 1999 and was mixed the same place
in January 2000. All in all ten songs was put on tape, 9 of
the bands own composions and a cover version of the Motörhead
classic "Killed By Death". These songs show a new
direction and sound of GUIDANCE OF SIN, which is best described
as melodic and catchy metal with an angry and heavy deathrock
angle - completed with a straight forward attitude!!
"6106" was released world wide through MIGHTY MUSIC
on the 29th of May 2000.
